Thurles Credit Union is now inviting applications for the following position

Business Development and Marketing Officer (Ref BDMO 2019)

Principal responsibilities of the Role: 

The BDMO will report to the CEO and will have overall responsibility for marketing and developing Thurles Credit Union services to its members and potential members, ensuring the credit unions profile within the community remains strong and its reach throughout its common bond is thorough. A key function of the role will be the creation, design, andimplementation of a cohesive annual marketing plan and budget that can be rolled out across all relevant media channels. The key objective of the role is to ensure that Thurles Credit Union services evolve and grow and to engage members and potential members in line with Thurles Credit Unions Strategic Plan and targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implementation of the sales & marketing strategy in line with the Strategic Plan, market segmentation and product targets
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in the business to ensure the successful implementation of the growth objectives in the Strategic Plan
  • Together with the CFO and the CEO, develop a detailed and costed annual marketing plan
  • Assess products and bundles that will provide the bestvalue to specific demographics and market segments within the common bond area
  • Help develop and embed a “value” based sales culture throughout Thurles Credit Union
  • Provide sales and business development training to staff to ensure front line promotion is optimisedacross the credit unions product suite
  • Responsible for the follow-upand development of new business opportunities 
  • Liaise with outside agencies to identify business development opportunities
  • Manage together with the CEO, all external PR related activities and communications to ensure consistency of message throughout
  • Develop a monitoring tool that measures the effectiveness of marketing initiatives ongoing across channels 
  • Ensure that the business development strategy is closely aligned with lending and all member interfaces
  • To participate in meetings and projects as assigned by the CEO
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation, regulations, andguidance including Advertising Law, DP, etc. 


The Successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Dynamic, creative and self-motivated individual capable of working independently to identify, research and present opportunities to the business for assessment
  • Ability to convert creative ideas intoeffective marketing messages both in terms of design and language
  • Strong knowledge of social media advertising, business profile building, anddirect digital advertising. e.g. Google Adwords etc.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, event management, andinfluencing skills 
  • Good Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to focus on target delivery within agreed budgetary constraints

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Marketing qualification to Masters level with 18+ months experience of business development & marketing in a commercial environmentis desirable
